Special Olympics Cauldron, Cauldron Design and Technical Delivery

For the Special Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies, we were challenged to design and construct a bespoke Cauldron inspired by Emirati Khoos weaving, integrating messages of support from participating nations.

195 separate panels combined through seven concentric rings to form the cauldron

We designed a fully automated, retractable, cauldron made from 190 separate panels engraved with messages of support from each participating nation. As the structure rose out of the stage set, the panels combined through a Khoos pattern of seven concentric rings to form the cauldron.
